Bobbie Rae Jones is a mother of two with deep roots in Northern California. She is an alumnus of CSU Chico with a BA Options in Studio Art and Art Education, an Interdisciplinary MA in Art and Education: PreK-Older Adult, and a Single Subject K-12 Teaching Credential in Visual Arts. In her studio practice, she works in the media of painting, drawing and fiber arts grappling with the roles of women, traditions, and humanities connection to (or loss from) the natural environment. Bobbie is fascinated by the aesthetics found within the mystical. Using realistic images in fantastical environments, she creates narratives of the transcendent immersed within the somewhat tragic and mundane. She comments on the need for a critical look at the individual and group's responsibility for current social issues.
Bobbie has a broad non-academic experience in multidisciplinary arts. A Community Artist, she believes art is an essential aspect of solving social problems. She is active within at-risk populations and thrives in building inner and collective peace through collaborative creative projects. Sharing in trauma-informed and healing-centered practices, her intent is to transform by facilitating studio art methods to powerfully vision results.
As an Art Educator advocating for equity, inclusivity, and diversity, she pursues dialectic thinking in arts leadership circles to find methods to activate and inspire the imagination within the public realm. Some of these conversations occur within the California Art Education Association (CAEA), The California Arts Project (TCAP), The Singing Tree Project, and Drawing On Earth (DOE), where artists and art educators from all over the state align with those across the nation and internationally who recognize the need for accessibility to arts.
