Bobbie facilitates sensorial group experiences combining aesthetic imagery and text to build community in circles that engages all populations.
“I consider myself a socially engaged artist, specializing in painting, drawing, and fiber arts but prefer the social practice of the creative spirit to build community while making art and bringing the voice of the marginalized to the forefront. In individual and group settings my specialties include trauma-informed practices with an emphasis on creativity, These are the foundation for creating transformative experiences using art as the method.
As an artist, I have been working with a focus on personal growth and healing through my art. My personal journey has led me to explore what it means to be human in a world that is constantly changing. As an artist, this has led me down many paths including exploring new ways of seeing myself and others through movement, sound, color, and texture which have helped me find a new sense of freedom within myself and others around me.”
~ Bobbie Rae Jones
My mission is to encourage the use of the imagination within myself and groups creating personal imagery reflective of current issues. I value arts and community and am dedicated to lifting the voice of marginalized population, brining more awareness to issues affecting the environment and wild animals.
My personal purpose is to draw, paint and use fiber effortlessly and often using sensual and textural colors while imagining, creating, and investigating the narrative - mine and ours - (individual and collective) through a variety of aesthetic experiences. As a studio artist, my Social Practice feeds off the communal narrative focusing on Cultural Practices and Advocacy. The work is intended to give a voice and bring awareness to underrepresented communities and marginalized populations, including issues around climate change, and affordable housing. My goal of partnering and listening to indigenous voices is paramount, and I focus on consistent and supportive relationship building in diverse communities. I have a personal commitment towards the feminist narrative that is demonstrated through my studio practice of paintings using myth, symbolism and archetype as a Visionary Artist.
